Algae in Ponds
About
Autobiography
My name is Victoria, and my signature project is about the bacteria and algae in ponds; specifically, I will be doing research on the pond by my home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. My goal is to study the bacteria in the pond water by creating and conducting experiments, and then try to control the bacteria growth to potentially improve the water quality and environment. The reason which pushed me towards executing this project idea was because of the pond’s history. While I have lived in my home in PA for about 10 years now, this pond was always a highlight of my experience living there. I observed that throughout the years, the pond water quality visibly decreased. It used to be completely clear in the summer, sustaining a healthy ecosystem which is now vastly different and it make me question what contributed to the deterioration of the pond.
